We Have Internet!
We have internet! Time to meet the Busy Birds!
What a great day on the farm! We finally have internet capable of blogging!
The internet company told me last year fiber would be installed by the end of the year. Fast forward to today, and this finally happened. So much work has been done on the farm. I hope to update you with all of the projects we completed over the last year.
Many new members joined our farm family. Do not worry! I will introduce you to all of them 🙂
Copper and Nora
Copper received his own post prior to our internet upgrade! He tolerates his little sister, but I think they will become good friends soon! Copper loves swimming in the pond and running next to the golf cart.
We just adopted Nora from the animal shelter and Saturday marks 2 weeks since her adoption. She loves farm life so far. Nora really wants Copper to be her best friend and doesn’t understand how sharp her little teeth are. Her loves include chewing on all of her bones and taking long naps on the back porch.
Kitties
Fisher is our main squeeze. Evan adopted Fisher long before he got me and Fish holds the title of only indoor animal. He loves snuggling until he doesn’t and playing hide and go pounce. Fisher turns 10!! in July!
Thelma
A patient/adopted grandfather brought Thelma and her sister Louise to us. Sadly, Louise went missing not too long after she arrived. Thelma loves hunting and running in the yard. She hates to be picked up but loves to sit in your lap and cuddle. She’s become a good big sister to Little Bit and Bud.
Evan and I adopted Little Bit and Bud not longer after Louise left. We wanted Thelma to grow up with a playmate, and he and I couldn’t agree on the same kitten. Bud grew into a handsome young man. He enjoys head rubs, and he also loves golf cart rides! He runs up and jumps in the seat whenever he sees us taking off.
Little Bit is my green eyed baby. He is the most snuggly of all the cats. He rides on my shoulder like a parrot and loves to give kisses.
All the Busy Birds
We didn’t chose the name of our farm thinking it would be the home too all of these crazy birds. After moving here, friends brought us 12 guineas and 9 chicks, but several were lost along the way for various reasons. Guineas are LOUD, and they started attacking our chickens. So, all but 2 of the guineas returned to their birth place along with several roosters. Later, we bought four fat hens to join Clem and Red, and the boys adore their lady friends.
On a side trip to Tractor Supply, 4 baby ducks decided to join our family. They grew so fast and love waddling around in the yard. Our ducks HATE anything to do with the pond and will only swim in the dog pool and mud puddles.
I found 2 silkie chickens at the flea market and named them George and Katherine. Neither has crowed yet, but they laid several eggs so far. Three white fuzzy silkies joined them along with Yellow Bird and Penguin.
Coming home to a yard full of chickens can’t be beat. They love grazing all over the yard, but they Really enjoying roosting in Evan’s barn. Because of this, we may move them into their own fenced in area in the near future.
I’m sure this will not be the last time you see all of our crazy farm animals. I hope to start updating on all of the projects we completed in the past year. We’ve fenced in the entire front of the farm. Our garden is growing! Farm life really is the best life!
