We Bought a Farm!
Evan and I officially own our farm! After several weekends of hard work, it was time to start on even more projects! This post is coming a little late, because we left for 2 weeks in Scotland a week after closing. Then, I had to get internet out to the farm!
We closed on a Tuesday, and we planned to stay at the farm all weekend to get as much work done as possible. When we sold our last house, we put most of our belongings in a big car hauler and parked it at Evan’s parent’s house. Unbeknownst to us, the trailer was not sealed properly. When Evan’s parent’s gathered together some of our things they noticed the trailer had standing water in it and ruined some of our furniture. This changed our plans for the week, and Evan left then to go grab our trailer. Luckily, only the furniture sustained major damage, and most of our personal belongings were dry.
First Night on the Farm
We spent the first night on the farm cleaning out the big shed. We planned to use this area to unload the trailer and store our belongings until we could move them inside. For the first several weeks we stayed at the farm, we roughed it. We brought air mattresses to sleep on, and used a small cast iron camp stove as a make shift grill. Sitting on the back porch watching the birds and the turkeys is so peaceful.
Plans for the Future
We only had one weekend to get as much done as possible before our trip to Scotland. After landing back in the States, we decided it would be easier to stay at the farm instead of driving back and forth to the apartment every night. Evan made a long to do list, and we’ve been checking off items left and right! Stay tuned for more regular posts now that I have consistent internet connection and a little spare time!
Update: We are close to a YEAR since closing. We still do not have great internet. I hope to post updates soon to catch everyone up on our progress! 🙂
